When it comes to vaping, there are two types of e-liquids to choose from: Cannabis-based, or Nicotine-based. Both are derived from plants, Cannabis based vapes of course coming from the cannabis plant but may be THC only, CBD only, or a mix of both. Today we will only be discussing CBD only vapes. Nicotine based vapes are derived from Tobacco.
Nicotine is a colorless or yellowish liquid that is primarily found in tobacco products. It is the ingredient found in cigarettes, one of the approximately 600, which accounts for the addictive nature of the product. When people say they are trying to quit smoking, it’s more they are trying to quit nicotine, as it can be as difficult to give up as heroin.
Here are some statistics provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about how destructive nicotine is:
- Cigarette smoking causes more than 480,000 deaths per year in the United States. This accounts for almost one in every five deaths.
- Smoking cigarettes cause 90% of all lung cancer deaths.
- Smoking causes more deaths each year than HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle accidents, and firearm-related incidents COMBINED.
Keeping in mind all the facts listed above are specific to cigarettes, it is still clear nicotine is not a healthy product to consume, whether it is found in vape juices or cigarettes. We of course support individuals who vape lower dosages of nicotine to quit smoking cigarettes. In any other circumstance, there is nothing positive that can be taken away from smoking e-liquids containing nicotine.
Vaping Cannabidiol (CBD)
CBD is a compound derived from the hemp plant (a variety of the cannabis plant which contains <0.03% THC). Most individuals get it confused with THC since they both come from cannabis. While THC is known for being a primary ingredient in weed, as it is what results in the “high” it is known for, CBD is the exact opposite. Being non-toxic, non-addictive and non-psychotropic, CBD stands apart from nicotine as the best option for vaping by far. Even when comparing e-liquids made from cannabidiol to non-nicotine vape; the natural aspect of CBD is just too hard to beat.
While vaping CBD may not be helpful to quit cigarettes as the first step, but it can be a perfect last step. Once you have gotten down to a low dose of nicotine try switching to a CBD vape! The calming effect of CBD will ease cravings and by still using a vape you are able to still satisfy the oral fixation and feel the relaxation that comes along with the process of vaping.
